WE CAME, WE SAW, WE LEARNED AND HAD FUN.!!!!!

The first stop of the Vocational Caravan was at the Lufthansa Technik Philippines compound at the Villamor Airbase. The 41 Rotarians, 19 Smiling Visionary Presidents were greeted warmly by the LTP and PAL staff headed by Mr. Jess Garcia of PAL at the board room of the main office. The Vice President of LTP Dominik Wiener-Silva gave a short talk on the operations of the facilities. The guided tour started at the hangar bays where we saw up close the aircrafts of Virgin Atlantic Airways and Quantas that were there for their regular maintenance checks. Some of the Rotarians were asked to try on the lifejackets and inflate them as well to simulate an emergency situation. The lifejacket experience was exciting but we hope we will never get to use them in real life. The most important information, we reckon was that all the engineers and the support groups were all Pinoys trained locally and abroad by Lufthansa Technik. Proud to be Pinoy huh. The visit was doubly significant as it stripped us of the angst of flying as now we have a good working knowledge of what goes on in and out of an aircraft.

We would like to thank Gov.Sid for initiating the tour, Mr.Jess Garcia and Ms.Bheng Sibal who coordinated the fam tour. To SVP “Capt.” Mike Macatangay who “piloted the 3830 flight”. To DS Lita and SAG Patti, DDS Camil, the SVPs, PP Ric and all those who took time to join the fam tour, thank you for your support. Until the next Vocational Caravan. Ciao.
