District Xmas party and Launch of District Conference 2010
The Rotary Club of Makati (RCM) and the Rotary Club of Parañaque East (RCPE) served as co-hosts of the program to formally launch this Rotary year’s District Conference, which is scheduled for March 19-20 at Sofitel Philippine Plaza. The launch was held at the SMX Center at the Mall of Asia on the 2nd of December, with PP Pepito Bengzon, SAG for Public Image, as emcee for that portion of the evening.
It was only right that RCM served as event co-host as it shall be the host of the DisCon itself, since the District Governor, Sid Garcia, is a member of the club.

District 3830.

What a District Handover!!!
Only 500 attendees were expected but 700 arrived. Like any event, there was already an allowance for additional show-ups but despite that, there still remained Rotarians standing even after the program had started. Luckily, additional 7 tables for 70 people were setup along the center portion but this was done only after the Smiling Visionary Presidents had walked down the aisle and the entrance of “colors”. It was a good problem which was resolved immediately. Governor Sid and his team extend their gratitude to the Rotarians and guests for the patience and understanding they exemplified.

DGE SID GARCIA’S DISTAS SPEECH
Great expectations! That is what this District Assembly is all about. Let us adopt this mindset as we prepare ourselves for the never-ending journey of Rotary fellowship and service.
TURBULENT TIMES
We gather here today in the midst of turbulent financial times across the globe. We have seen companies fold and major economies flounder, and it is becoming clearer everyday that we have yet to glimpse the light at the end of this long, dark tunnel. We have been told that things will get worse before they get better. In our country, we hear of people losing their jobs even as the government is trying valiantly to create many opportunities for Filipinos. Just two weeks ago, we had a big job fair organized in one of the biggest malls in the city. Unfortunately, most of the people who applied could not be matched with the available jobs, so only a few were hired. Yet, while we have an issue on the sustainability of our economic development, economists say that we will experience a growth of 2 to 3 % this year which, in a world drowning in negatives, is still good news.
