District Polio ++ Mission Invades Pangasinan

More than 500 children were benefited by our POLIO PLUS++mission in Mangatarem, Pangasinan! The Rotary Club of Makati Bonifacio led by its SP Loyn Orbe together with SPs Liza Magtoto of RC Parañaque Central and Sue Mendoza of RC Muntinlupa South were given a warm welcome by Mangatarem Mayor Ted Cruz and his officers, Municipal Health Officer Dra. Carmelita Ayson and team and DOH Representative Dr. Moises Soriano last April 25, 2008.
A total of 21 barangays were given free vaccines coming from DOH through the Lingayen District Hospital. Happily for the residents of the barangays, the Rotary Team were there not only for Polio eradication but for other diseases as seen from the report filed which included administering vaccines to children aged 6-73 months old for the following cases: OPV, 350 patients, DPT, 425 patients, Hepa B, 300 patients and BCG, 240 patients.
We were able to reach the poorest among the poor residents. The Team was so enthused that Rotarian – Surgeon Tony Pobre and his team of surgeons made a pledge to return in the near future to perform free surgical operations for children in need of medical help.
