Two Makati Clubs in Joint Project
By SP Ma. Rosario “Cherry” K. Rosario
The Rotary Club of Makati and the Rotary Club of Makati McKinley recently embarked on a livehood activity at the Miraculous Medal National Shrine compound in Makati City.
Dubbed as “Project Bakeshop” through a matching grant from RCM’s Foundation (MRCFI), one of the components of the project was to address the nutrition aspect of baking healthy and quality bread by teaching the volunteer workers the value of using only flour that are fortified with vitamins.
Another component was to make sure that the products the bakery produces are affordable in order to benefit not only the immediate residents of the compound but also children from the nearby public schools and communities.
The third component was to develop civic consciousness and community involvement by helping those who have been idle and unemployed in the community to learn a craft which can also be profitable for them when they eventually secure jobs as bakers.
The soft opening of the bakeshop was attended by several Rotarians and community members led by SP Cherry K. Rosario and Sr. Luz Jael, D. C.

As a buena mano of the bakeshop, RCM McKinley ordered 200 pieces of pan de sal with hotdogs for a simultaneous project undertaken by the RCMMc in its the “Bundle of Joy” Project, another joint project of the undertaken with RC Parañaque Sucat headed by SP Pete Perez.
RCMMc thanks SP Pepito Bengzon of RC Makati for his role in encouraging the launching of this project, and for facilitating the approval of the partial funding of this project – thanks Pepito!
