Rotary Club of Alabang Lampara Chartering Ceremony

The Rotary Club of Alabang-Lampara, the first club to be chartered for RY 2008-09 receives the chartering document from the District Governor Edgardo ‘Boyet’ Limon during the Chartering ceremony held at Bellevue Hotel. Shown with them are PP Lito Sacdalan and PP Mar Castillo the Charter President Emeritus of the Club.

The ceremony was attended by DG Isidro ‘Sid’ Garcia, DGE Eduardo ‘Ed’ Alvarez, DGN Billy Villareal, PDG Jimmy Cura, dedicated district officers and Smiling Visionary Presidents and guest all totalling 130 attendees. It was highlighted by the unfurling of the Club Banner and the speeches of the DCC for membership DGE Ed Alvarez, DGSR Jay Tambunting, Mother Club President Roberto ‘Bobby’ Lim of RC Makati West and Governor Boyet Limon.

The Club was first organized in October of 2008. It was the last club to be organized by District 3830 and the first to submit its chartering documents in December of the same year. After going through the intricacies of chartering a new club, it was finally approved by Rotary International in March 6, 2009. It has an original of thirty eight (38) charter members and four (4) honorary members. The honorary members are DGE Ed Alvarez, DGSR Jay Tambunting, VADM Kozo Tanaka of JICA and his wife Yokiko Tanaka. LAMPARA means Las Pinas, Muntinlupa and Paranaque the three outlying Cities which is the target of the Club in its community projects. Its members are also residents of the three cities. Thirty (30%) per cent of the members are women and the age group are also broken down as follows; 32% ages 30-40, 41% ages 40-50 and 27% ages 50-60.

As the course is plotted, the Club is now ready to go on its first journey, the journey of strengthening the club and having dedicated officers and committed members. The Captain of its first voyage for RY 2009-2010 is Charter President Danilo ‘Danny’ Abinoja who promised in his speech not to fail the expectations of his club and the district. With GOD as our navigator, we can only move forward towards a strong ‘Rookie’ Club of District 3830. Full speed ahead RC Alabang-Lampara.
